Refreshing Your Wardrobe
Breathing new life into your wardrobe can be an exciting adventure. Here are some steps to help you give your current collection a fresh update:
1. Assess Your Current Wardrobe
Identify Unwanted Items: Go through your clothes and set aside pieces you don't like or wear. As the great Marie Kondo says, if it brings Joy, keep it, but if it doesn't, say "thank you" and gift it away.
Think About Fit and Lifestyle: Remove items that don't fit well or align with your lifestyle anymore. Our bodies change and that is perfectly natural. That Junior fit isn't neccessarily made for a woman's body, and that's okay. Say "thanks for the memories" and send them away to their next life.
2. Emphasize Your Favorite Pieces
Favorite, Essential Pieces: Pick out clothing you love and feel confident in. I have a Bob Dylan tee that I love. I mean LOVE. I got it at his concert ages ago and it's one of my go to pieces. I make sure that when I look in my closet, that shirt is within view. It makes me happy, and that's what your wardrobe should do!
Let Them Inspire You: Use these favorite pieces as a foundation for creating your new look. Not every piece in your closet is a hero piece. There are staples like basic jeans and things, but you will have certain things that should just make you FEEL GOOD. You have to wear clothes in our society, so why not wear clothes that reflect you as a person and that make you, YOU?
3. Create a New Style
Mix Creatively: Experiment by pairing your key pieces with different styles and accessories. I had a customer in today and we were talking about her wardrobe today. It actually inspired this post. I told her that if she wasn't ready to start big and mix all the patterns together and go bold, that she should pair her favorite tee with jeans and layer some jewelry up. Get funky with smaller items, and work your way up to get comfortable. You may be surprised at how quickly you'll throw on a fun blazer and some sneakers to complete the look!
Add Versatile Items: Consider introducing a few versatile pieces that complement your favorites. Low Court Nikes. Or Converse.
4. Maintain Your Wardrobe
Regularly Reassess: Frequently go through your wardrobe to ensure it aligns with your current style and needs. This will change season to season. I love fall and winter. I layer and layer. One thing I don't do, is pack up my closet. I use the same things most of the year. I will layer sweaters over dresses. Throw on tights and boots. Your summer floral sundress is now a cute skirt. Play with your clothes. We used to play with dolls all the time, just think of yourself that way too!
Stay True to Yourself: Always choose pieces that reflect your personal style and make you feel at ease. You ALWAYS want to feel like YOU.
By following these simple steps, you can rejuvenate your wardrobe while ensuring it aligns with your personal style and lifestyle needs. Clothes are a reflection of who we are and can tell a story without saying a word. Make it a fun one!
Stay fashionable!
